How often should I have my hearing checked?
Most of the time, hearing deterioration occurs gradually. This means it can be difficult to pinpoint exactly when you have a loss of hearing and when it is the right time is to act. For this reason, we recommend getting your hearing checked at least every two years from the age of 40. This ensures you continue to have good hearing health and if not, then early intervention is the best course of action to take. At Biddulph Hearing Centre, we are happy to offer free hearing screening or a full hearing and communication assessment, depending on your needs.
How much will the hearing aid cost?
When you buy hearing instruments, it is not just the instrument and aftercare package that is being purchased, but also the time and expertise of the audiologist. This knowledge and experience come with the most advanced tests and assessments in our profession.
Hearing aids start from £695 per instrument in our bronze entry level range going up to our premium platinum range costing around £1995 per hearing instrument. Also, all of our packages include a five years warranty, batteries, unlimited aftercare sessions and free earwax removal. Additionally we offer a 12-month interest free payment scheme. The most appropriate hearing solution for you may not always be the premium range, the right solution is based on your hearing requirements, lifestyle, and budget.
How long will the hearing test take?
A full hearing and communication assessment lasts between 60-90 minutes. It is comprised of a detailed discussion about your hearing issues and lifestyle needs, a series of tests and examinations, plus demonstrations of recommended hearing solutions, if required.

Do you offer a trial period and returns?
Yes. We offer a minimum 30-day trial period for new hearing systems. If, at the end of this time, you are not completely satisfied and do not want to keep the instruments, we will endeavour to work with you to obtain better results with other models.
If we still cannot meet your needs, and you return the instruments within the agreed trial period, we will refund all monies paid.
What does the manufacturer’s warranty cover?
A manufacturer’s warranty will cover you for a period of up to five years from the point of fitting. It includes repairs that may result from a manufacturer’s fault. The warranty does not cover for accidental damage or loss. Moreover we suggest you put the hearing instruments on your own household contents insurance.
Can you fix my NHS hearing aid?
If we can help, we will try, but in general we do not normally deal with NHS hearing aids.
Do you provide home visits?
Yes. We charge £100 for a home visit hearing test. When you purchase hearing aids from us, we will deduct the £100 from the cost of the hearing aids.
I have just moved to the local area and have private hearing aids. Can you look after me from now on?
As long as you have proof of the prescription for the hearing aids being for you personally, and from a qualified audiologist, then yes of course.
We would need to carry out a full hearing assessment to get up to date results. Where necessary apply alterations to the existing hearing aids, carry out a full clean and check plus follow up any alterations two weeks later. This service is available for £185.00 for approximately 2 ½- 3 hours of consultation time.
